English Language Challenges

Since my childhood I've been learning english because in my school at kindergarden we had Music, English, Language and Basic Maths. When I started my education I was very intereseted in learning english, because I tought it sound nice and Iwanted to speak it too.

So I grow up listening to music, watching movies and series and even cartoon in english! I like to understand another language besides mine. 

When I came to University and understand that I needed to know English here, I was happy because this never was a problem for me and I like it. Maybe sometimes it bores me, but it's normal for me. In my life, many things bores me sometimes haha.

Here, I think that blogs are usefull because make me think and make me see my mistakes and the mistakes of my classmates, also they help me to understand things and words that I didn't know and let me know them even when we don't talk about those things. Blogs are interesting. 

I think that someday I want to travel to another country and learn English much better than now. Nowadays, I can't learn and practice too much because in my daily life I don't speak English, like go out to the street, say "Hi" to your neighbour and talk to him in english LOL you don't do that, you just listen to music in English and you watch movies and series in English and at most, you memorize the dialogues in English and repeat them when you're bored haha. 

Anyway, I've always tought that you learn better if you put yourself in a country that you don't know, where they speak in other language and you need to communicate.

However, I like this course and I hope it helps me in the future :)

Plans or ideas for these summer holidays

Plans for my summer holidays

I have 3 plans for my holidays:

The first plan I want to do is to go to Quintero with my boyfriend and his family, like the summer of this year. I want to spend time with him because he will go to university next year and all of us know that University claim most of you time.

Second of all, I will go with my "family friends" to Algarrobo, we want to rent a house with our boyfriends, we are like fourteen people and maybe we will be there for 1 week. We want to spend time together because this year we can't see each other because university, preu and job. We are happy waiting for that free week together.

Finally my "every year plan" is to celebrate my birthday with my family and friends. I think that I want to do a party in my house with my people♥.

The rest of the summer I just want to get relaxed and sleep, sleep A LOT. I want to see all the series and movies that I've accumulated on this year and I want to eat every little and delicious thing on this earth haha. 

I don't have much other plans because I think that the summer is that time of the year when you don't have any plan and suddenly appear someone to invited you to go out and have some fun. So, I just want to do those 3 little things and the rest to surprise me. 

Sadly, every year the length of my summer is shorter and shorter and time flies faster and faster.

Drugs of abuse

Nowadays, we are familiar with many drugs like marihuana, alcohol, cigarrets, tea, coffe, eat, etc. I think that every of these are just as danger for people. Some of those drugs cause deseases and make people get sick.

In my opinion, you can consume them but not in excess.

In my case, I smoke a lot. When I go to a party, when I'm with my friends, when I'm with my family I smoke a lot. I think that it doesn't have any benefits, the only one that came to me is to be relaxed. When I'm nervous, very very nervous I like to smoke. But I don't like the smell and the taste after smoke a lot, I call it the hangover of the cigarette haha. 

Also, it's uncomfortable to smoke when my boyfriend doesn't smoke or when he smoke and I don't, because the taste in the mouth or the smell on the hair and the fingers it feels much worse. 

The danger on it it's the cardiac acceleration, lungs deseases, cancer (like many things that we eat and we consume), you can get ugly and yellow nails, ugly hair like dry and straw, etc.

After a long time smoking, people sweat with the characteristic smell of the cigarettes and when they go inside a house, or pass next to you, you smell it and it's SO disgusting. I hope not to came that far with that addiction.

Also the teeths fall and they don't look good. 

Anyway, drugs are good sometimes and make you fell OK but to long-term they are bad to our bodys, to our minds and to the people who it's around us.

Post graduate studies

Post graduate studies

I want to do a post graduate in forensic. 

I don't know, I think that it's interesting to work with dead causes and let the family be peace about their family member, whoever he or she is.

I think I've always want to study, when I was child I dream about working at the morgue.

I would like to study toxicology, forensic and do whatever the future gives me.

And when I was a child too, I dreamed about traveling. I think that I would LOVE to study in another country, it would be so interesting and different. I like the challenges, like learn another language and learn again everything I know but in another place, on a different way. Maybe for many people that would be weird, but for me is cool haha.

I would like to travel to some country with very good and crazy deads.

Uhm, I think I would like to study in person, like now. Because I think I can meet another people and get support, study groups, friends and everything you don't have studying online or in a distance learning. 

I think that is relevant to say that not many people study toxicology and forensic because is weird, is disgusting and people don't find the magic on that. That's one of the reason I like it so much.

Your future job

My future Job

I've always want to be a forensic and work with dead people. Many people think that I'm crazy for want that but I think that is so interesting and fun. You can know many thing about the body, you can understand their dead, ypu can learn so many things and you're working without the pressure to kill somebody haha. I don't know, I've always tought that forensics rules.

Sadly that's a indoor job. You're on the lab all day and you do research all day, every day. Maybe if I join to the PDI I would be a forensics expert and I could go to field and see more things than labs and blood in test tubes.

When I decide to become a pharmacist I tought about the money too. Maybe one day I'll have enough to travel wherever and whenever I want to go. But I think that if I decide to become a Forensics I won't have enough time.

When a forensics came to the university and explain her job I was fascinated. She said many thing that they do and she said that forensics have a very good salary after a couple of years. 

I think that it fulfill many of my expectations.

I'll be a pharmacist and I hope to join to some entity where I can work in forensics and labs. That's my dream job and I hope that my future too.

Digressing about music

Digressing about music: songs, dances, melodies, groups, films...

Music is like a way of living, I think that my day isn't complete without listening some music. 

I like to sing and dance like crazy when I'm alone, put the music ON and on top. 

I think that I can't have and exact type of music that I love. I think, if you love music you don't love a "kind" of music only. You love all music. You listen all music. You dance and enjoy every kind or most kind of music.

For example, I love musicals films. Sometimes, I wake up and I put the soundtrack of "Chicago", "Moulin Rouge", "Lés Miserables", whatever.

I found it awesome to dancing, singing, acting and I don't know, sometimes musicals rock's.

And I think that the films about music are awesome. Just that.
Like Whiplash, Les Choristes and many others.

Also I think that the films without music would be so boring, without emotions. Like, what would be of "The eternal sunshine of a spotless mind" without music? IT WOULD BE SO MEANINGLESS! that would take away so many emotions that music gives.

Or what would be "Amélie" without music! No, that would be such a big mistake. 

Music gives emotions and context to the scenes. Don't you think?

In brief, I think I love music haha.

But I also like Indie pop (or I think that is that kind of music) like Future Islands. And I don't know, I love pop, rock, blabla. Queen, My chemical romance, Chilean music, Classical music, Sonic Youth, Radiohead and many MANY others. 

Our amazing human body

The brain 

I think that the most amazing and mysterious part of the human body is the brain. 

I like it because I think that we can know and understand many parts of the body like the heart, the stomach, the liver, the pancreas but the brain...

The brain is like a vial. When we are alive the vial is ON and we can understand some little parts thanks to some exams and tests. But we can't see every part of the brain, because is too delicated and complex and we don't use it completely, if we touch a part that we shouldn't touch we can make a severe damage on it.

The only way to know the brain is when the person is awake and alive, otherwise the brain is just a very big mass of muscles and blood vessels.

The brain controls every function of our body, from our breathing to our feelings and emotions. This is important, because the body doesn't works without the brain. If someone has a dead brain, he or she will be like a dead person, known as a "vegetal state". 

The weigh of the brain depends of the animal, but in humans is usually around 1.2 and 1.5 kg. Is located in our head, and is directly conected to our spine and every part of the nervous system.

Many illness can affect our brain, some of those are incurable diseases like alzheimer's or schizophrenia. The "brain diseases" are complicated and invasive, because it can affect any part of the body and most of time, we can't know where is the failure.

People said that we should exercise our brain like the muscle it is. Reading, eating well, thinking and creating, etc.

Don't you think that the brain is awesome? 

Your best concert or holiday ever

My best holiday ever

Holidays are that special time of the year that I wait when I'm exhausted or sad. Holidays are fun and it suppose to be relaxed.

I think I love holidays, in part because it's my birthday.

There are many special holidays in my life, with my mother, with my friends, with my brothers and sisters or with the rest of my family. 

I think that I can't choose one of my best holidays, because every holiday in my life has been special and happy. 

For example, when I was a child, my uncle worked at the bank and all the family went together to some huts in the central coast for 1 or 2 weeks at least. We played all together to the hidden at night, and with "all together" I mean my mom, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, even our neighboors played with us! That was so funny. In the day we went to the beach, we went to shopping at the handicraft market and we played on the little casino that the huts had. I keep good memories of those happy years in my life.

There is another summer, when I was 16 years old and was my 17 birthday. I went to Las Cruces with my dad, sisters and my little brother. That was the first time that I spend my birth with my dad. That makes it one of the most specials summers in my life. 

On the same summer I had my study tour, that makes it so much better. It was in Bariloche and was the best travel that I have done with my friends.

Finally, the last summer was perfect. I went with my boyfriend to Quintero and to Pichilemu with him, my mom and some cousins. And on my birthday all my friends and family went to my house to celebrate and to do a party!

However, I love holidays.♥

A country you would like to visit

A country I would like to visit 

I want to go to the Maldivas Island someday, because I think that is a dream place to go to. Like the best vacations that you can have in your whole life.

The Maldivas is an island nation, located in the Indian Ocean formed by 1200 islands. 

 They talk "maldivo" and they use the "Rupia Maldiva" like their money.
They have a tropical weather, typical from certain Equatorial and Tropical regions.The best time to go is from May to November.


There are many animals in the ocean, fishes, sea turtles, whales, dolphins and corals and you can diving in there!






But the most epic thing that I want to see is the Natural phenomenon that happend in the night. The "sea of stars".
The people say that the water looks like a sky full of blue and white stars and it happend when the weather is too warm and the night is too dark.

A trip that you remember

A trip that you remember

The most epic trip that I ever done was the trip that everyone does the summer before finish the college, my study tour. It was back in January, 2014 with my classmates, my friends and my best friend -even when she leave the school that year-.

We went to Bariloche, Argentina for one week and that was the very best week in all our years together. 

The place was beautiful, we spent the first and the last night at the bus and 4 nights there in the hotel. The hotel "Bariloche City" was close to the lake Nahuel Huapi and the "Frantom" -the best chocolate I've ever eaten-, near to the Bar's -down to the street was the Ice Bar, just amazing-, to the Discos -Roket, By Pass, Cerebro, and Grisu-, the main street -San Martin and Mitre- and the Civic Center. The hotel was very well located.

We went to "El Rancho", to have a pool party and to do canopy. To the hill to lower it in Culipatin. To the Civic Center to shopping and to walk. To the Discos, to dance and drink. To many places that I don't remember the names but I know that we went to have fun, to laugh and to have the best trip of our lives -aw-

Subject I've enjoyed

A subject I've enjoyed studying this semester

This is kind of weird, because many people said that they don't like many or any subjects in their first semester and at the beginig I thought that, but with the weeks I started to like everything. I have to say that I'm too slowly to understand, so I have to spend more time studying to keep the rhythm otherwise I'll be dead by now haha.
I consider myself as a studying person and very drippy. I think that you can't study something that doesn't makes you feel drippy. 

However, I like the most Laboratory Techniques.

I think is the best subject we had this semester, it is fun, different and makes you feel powerful with that lab coat LOL.

In class, you learn how to interpret results and to do basic skills in the Lab.

This semester, at first, we have learn equipment, materials, measurement units and safety standards. Then we starting to learn different chemical laboratory methods like heating a solvent, how to weigh it, how to know its volume and density. 

Later, another week we learn how to do a solution and we have a test called Titration, because you have to titrate an Acid and a Base. This is one of the most difficult test in this subject because is the first Titration that you do in your life and not always go well.

Finally, you learn separation and purification, extraction and destilation techniques.

I like it because I have learn a lot and it is simply fantastic.

Expert on my field that I admire

Rosalind Franklin

The person that I admire is Rosalind Fraklin, the pioneer on the discovery of the real structure of the DNA, the carbon and graphite and the real structure of the virus, all using the diffraction of the X-rays. She lived between 25th July, 1920 until 16th April, 1958. She died because ovarian cancer. She received a doctorate in physics and chemistry in the prestigious University of Cambridge, where she became in the pioneer of crystallography and diffraction of the X-rays. Thanks to that, she started studies about the DNA -its structure- and discovered the real form in double helix. But her story ceases to be so perfect when her colleagues Watson,Crick and Wilkins stole her documents to win a Nobel Prize. They won the Nobel Prize in Medicine while Franklin was still discovering contributions to the science.

I like her because she never gave up, even when their colleages stole her discoveries. She'd never won a Nobel Prize, she'd never had any recognition to the science and she died because of this, but she still did what she loved. Not for money, not for fame but for love. 

That is true love for science ♥

Favourite Serie

The truth is I love watch series so I've seen a lot in my life. But I think that my favourite serie in all time is "How I met your mother". This is a comedy about a man (Ted) who tells the story about how he met the love of his life to his daugther and son. It's a very long story that happens almost 20 years ago. He talks about his best friends that are married (Marshall and Lily), his womanizer friend Barney and his impossible love Robin. 

With the pass of time he met many womans, he fell in love many times, many things happen in his life until he met the love of his life. I could tell the most epic and sad final who has this serie but I would ruin it. It's very funny, dramatic and really, REALLY good.

I like it because it has so many details, stories and with the time you fall in love with some characters. You cry, you laugh, you feel what they feel, and even sometimes you pass trough the same things that happen to them. It's not a fantastic serie, it's about things that really happen and you learn to watch them in other ways and laugh about that.

In personal, when I read the message about to choose a phorograph I like, I immediately thought about many pictures that I love. I will show you all of them -because I want to haha-.

The first one was taken last year by a friend in my last school. We had to dance Tarantella that day, it was my last dance at school.

They are my Friends, they are the best thing from my school days. Nowadays we don't meet as often because all of us study in different Universities, but when we see each other is amazing, laughing and talking for hours.
I think I love this picture because it shows how messy we are. They are crazy and I love them.

Ok, you must think that my family is crazy and you aren't wrong haha. The picture on the left was the New Year in 2013. They are my mom, my grandmother, my grandfather, my godfather and me. We were very happy that night. After we took that picture, all my family started to reach to my home and we were partying all night long.

The picture on the right was taken last year. It was taken by my mom and the people there are my father, my two sisters and my Little brother. After that we went to a restaurant to eat waffles and pancakes.

I love these two pictures for the same reason: My family is beautiful, crazy and makes me happy every second in my life. They are there always for me and I think there isn't a better thing than that.

My Favourite Music Genre

Favourite music Genre

I like music since I was in my mom's belly haha She told me she put me some music and I moved a lot. She likes Rock Latino -like Virus or Soda Stereo-, Soft Rock -like Journey or Bee Gees-, Pop -like Michael Jackson or Madonna-, Funk or kind of -like Stevie Wonder or Prince-, typical of her time and I sang all those songs in my childhood. 

Nowadays, I'm still listening to that kind of music, but I like more R&B -like Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys or Adele- or the kind of music you can play with a guitar and your voice -like Perota Chingo or Paisano, something like that-. Sometimes, I like pop music -most of the time that's Lady Gaga-, or metal music -like System of a down-, that depends on my mood. I like alternative rock -like Florence Welch or Eddie Vedder-, and the kind of electronic music like Daft punk or Deadmau5-. I also like Die Antwoord a lot, but that's alternative rap (?) or something like that haha. I don't know, I like many things and many styles, I couldn't sum up all of them in one post. 

I like a lot of kinds of music, because the singers (in most of the cases) have very good voices, or very good rhythm. 

I tried to choose something, some favourite band or favourite artist and I couldn't LOL.

But I will put a video from my first concert. 

It was a Journey one. After that I went to a lot of concerts -with Chilean musicians- and I think it's amazing. 

I love every kind of music, I love listening to music, singing and cry watching videos haha.

My favourite piece of technology

My favourite piece of technology

I think my favourite piece of technology is my computer, because I do everything with it. I have a computer since I was like seven years old and I played with my cousins all day long, it was a funny time for all.

Nowadays, I don't play with it, but I'm a fan of series and I watch them with this one (I use the TV to proyect the screen and watch it in big, it's amazing haha), also I study, listen to music and see my social networks with my computer, so I use it a lot. Not like my cellphone but I use it everyday. I don't consider myself like an addict of technology (I think haha), I actually can live without a cellphone or a computer, but it's very usefull in my life.  Even sometimes, I feel that leave my smartphone in my house is like a little piece of freedom.. but not for much longer haha.

Anyway, the thing I like the most about having a computer is because I can watch every series that I want but I think that is more fun watching series with company than watching them alone.

Why I chose my career

Why I choose my career?

haha This is a long story...
I chose this career for at least three reasons, no just for chemistry (like a lot of my classmates, we're here for chemistry) but another more important reasons for me. 
The first one is 'cause I'm a very dispersed person, and when I knew about Chemistry and Pharmacy I discovered a lot of possibilities for what to do in the future, that attracted my attention a lot. 
The second one is a little bit different, I knew about Chemistry and Pharmacy because I wanted to study Biochemstry, so when I went to an exhibition of professions the stand of Chemistry had Biochemstry, Chemistry and Pharmacy, Chemistry and Food Engineering, so I talked with a Pharmacist and he told me everything about this career. I think that if he never talked to me, I wouldn't be here.
The third one, it's because when I was a child, of 8 or 9 years old, I started to love science. So, I started to have a special interest in the health of people. I talked with an aunt who works in a hospital and she told me about all the professions in there. Like a lot of people who's interested in science, at first I wanted to study medicine. No regular medicine, but Forensic Medicine. Over the years I started to realise that Medicine isn't my thing. So, I have another option: Careers that can work on Forensics. So, when I took this decision I was in 2nd grade of Highschool, I had 3 years yet to take my final decision. 
The next year after that, I went to "ChileVa", a science camp. There I knew Biochemstry and I fell in love with that career. 
I thought that was the final decision but my PSU score was 19 points below the required score. I had to look for another option, I went to the exhibition of professions in this University and here I am. 
But don't think I feel frustrated with this, beeing here. I'm very happy because now I'm here I can take a look at about everything around and now I think that Chemistry and Pharmacy is a better career (at least in Chile) than Biochemstry.
I like a lot beeing here and I feel safe and comfortable. I think this is my thing and I don't want to be anywhere else. Also, studying here I CAN WORK ON FORENSICS! Definitely, this is my dream career LOL.

My autobiaography task 1

My autobioagraphy.

I'm Fernanda Paz Urriola Pino, I was born in Santiago, Chile, back in February 7, 1998. I'm c-uatica.

I'm 18 years old, I went to "The Little School" from Kindergarden to 6th grade, then I went to Liceo 1 from 7th grade to my last student year. I'm a university student now, at the University of Chile, studying pharmaceutical chemistry.

I have always lived in the same house with my mom, grandfather, grandmother and an uncle. I met my dad when i was 9 years old so I don't live with him but I go to his house some weekends and we spend time together watching movies, discussing about music and cooking together. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother, he is the youngest and i'm the oldest one. I have too many aunts, uncles and cousins to count them, my family is veeery big but in spite of that i'm very close to all of them and i have a good relationship with everyone.

I love to see them, the kind of thing i like doing the best is going to family parties or going to their houses just to have a lunch together or to have a nice conversation with my cousins, smoking a cigarette together and talking for hours.

Other things i like to do is listening to music, singing, drawing (just when i'm inspired haha), watching series and reading novels but I'm not always reading or drawing because I don't have much time. I like to recycle but in my house it's a very difficult work because we don't have a place to throw the garbage separated from material like paper or cardboard.

Another thing I like a lot is going to my best friend's house, watching series, eating fast food, play guitar and singing whit them. Their names are Vicente and Nicolás. We are very closed like brothers, they consider me a one more bro, it's fun because they are more girly and delicated than me, my family believe they are a gay couple LOL that's a fun story.

When I turned 18 years, I did a party in my house with all my friends, my boyfriend and my family. Like I said, my family is pretty big so my friends don't know all of them (me neither haha) and some uncles and aunts don't know about them. So, they were very close and they didn't separate from each other, they sat in the legs of the other one and hugged them, but for me that isn't weird.. for my family it was a little bit.
When the party finished all my family, even friends asked me if my bests friends were boyfriends. We still laugh about that story and they pretend they are gays everytime they went to my house LOL

In brief, that's a little part of my life.
